This is a department that keeps all the museum sciences together, with educational courses and research.

In the Fall 2003 Sofie Johansson, a student on the C-level course in Archive Science wrote a 10 credits paper on Swedish missionary archives, called ”Missionärsarkiv. En studie i forskningspotential”. The paper deals with the extensive archives consisting of material from Swedish missionaries to India, most notably Carl Gustav Diehl, Bishop for the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (T.E.L.C.) in Tranquebar (today called Tarangambadi), Tamil Nadu, India, from 1932 until 1972 but also an indologist, working for a decade at Swedish universities (Lund and Uppsala) after defending his thesis in History of Religions at Lund University in 1956. Johansson also works with the archives left by the missionaries Maja Jonsson, and Fredrik Kugelberg. All the material is kept at Svenska Kyrkans Mission, SKM (Swedish Church Mission) in Uppsala. Go for Sofie Johanssons paper (as a pdf-file).
