The 18th Göteborg International Book Fair will take place 19–22 September, 2002.

Compared to last year´s many seminars connected to Indian writers not much focus is put on South Asia this year. One of the World´s leading thinkers, Homi K Bhabha, is an invited guest however, and he will hold two seminars on Thursday 19 September, named ”Postcolonial thoughts on a Third Space”. Bhabha will be introduced by Oscar Hemer, University of Malmö.

A new theme on the Book Fair will be European cultural magazines. Under the banner ”Journal 2002”, more than one hundred magazines from all over Europe will present themselves, and seminars and lectures be given. A group of 10 Swedish magazines on International issues, including the magazine SYDASIEN, has come together in a project called ”Upptäck Hela Världen”.

As part of their particicpation in Journal 2002 SYDASIEN presents a lecture by Professor Björn Hettne, Dept. for Peace and Development Studies, PADRIGU, Göteborg Universityon Sunday 22 September, 12.00, when he will talk about ”One year after 11 September”.
