In October 2008, some of the 40 students from Lund University’s interdisciplinary Masters programme in Applied International Development and Management (LUMID) 2007–09 batch launched the LFA (LUMID Fotographic Art) Project, as it is called.
The inspiration came to Ms. Hélène Mercier and three of her student friends during a fieldwork tour to Kenya, and the project was named in honour of the famous Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) analytical approach. The idea was to share each other's 'field' experiences through pictures, following a monthly theme. At the beginning of each month, the theme was revealed to the Lumiders and they were asked to post their picture on their Facebook group page – the place to see the complete LFA gallery.
During the period May 25th – June 4th, 2009, the LFA gallery will also be exhibited for the public in Lund. The exhibition will be at Wickmanska gården, Bredgatan 2 in central Lund (close to the City Library). Opening hours: Monday–Thursday 14–19, Fridays 14–17.
Twelve pictures will be on display, photos taken in seven different countries by LUMID amateur photographers, who come from 11 countries. SASNET has given a small financial support for the project. A festive vernissage will be held on Friday 29 May 2009, 17–19. More information.
