Research connected to South Asia

Prof. Ingemar Ragnarsson is doing research within the field of Theoretical Nuclear Physics. He has several contacts with Indian researchers. During a visit to India in 2006, he met with the postgraduate student Jnaneswari Gellanki, who later applied for and was accepted for a scholarship from the Swedish Institute to carry out his PhD training with a position at the Division of Nuclear Physics, Lund University.
Prof. Ragnarsson also established a contact with Dr. Somen Chanda at the Department of Physics at Fakir Chand College in Diamond Harbour, West Bengal, India. Together with a few other Indian researchers, they published an article entitled ”Seven-quasiparticle bands in 139Ce” in Physical Review C, May 2009 (Volume 79, issue No. 5). More information.

Finally, Prof. Ragnarsson has established collaboration with Prof. Ajay Singh at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.
